I took this photograph early in the morning while I was waiting for the bus at Ekkamai bus station (Eastern Bus Terminal) on my way to Koh Wai. This shot is not too special photography-wise but I think it tells a bit about the several different gender roles/identities that are so common in Thailand. The person looking in my direction looks like a tomboy, a homosexual female that dresses, acts, and speaks in a masculine fashion. For a westerner it can seem quite odd to see so many tomboys and ladyboys (males who dress and carry out the identity of a woman) walking around everywhere but I guess around here it is accepted/tolerated due to the nature of the surrounding Buddhist culture, which places a high value on tolerance.
